Mary Ackley has more than 28 years of experience in healthcare. Her diverse professional background includes serving as vice president of operations for an early out and facilities management A/R firm, a limited partner and vice president of operations for an A/R management firm, a hospital business office turnaround specialist, and for 10 years, she was principal of a consulting firm. For the past 12 years, Ms. Ackley has been working with Sutter Health in various capacities: PFS director, corporate consultant, internal audit director in Accounts Receivable and systemwide director of receivables management. In her current position, administrative director receivables management, Revenue Cycle Division, Ms. Ackley develops system standards in policy, process and revenue cycle technology use. She played a lead role in the development of “the Sutter Architectural Model” or “SAM” Sutter’s Collaborative Epic Build for the Revenue Cycle with a focus on reducing system A/R days and reducing Business Office and Patient Access departmental expenses.
Ms. Ackley attended the University of Michigan where she obtained a BA in Sociology and Anthropology. She holds an MBA in Corporate Finance, FHFMA designation and EPIC Hospital Revenue Cycle Certification. She has also completed Six Sigma coursework. At present, Ms. Ackley is attending Sutter Health’s Leadership Academy, a nine-month program likened to an executive MBA focused on leadership and project management.
Ms. Ackley is currently serving as the Northern California chair for the California Hospital Association Payor Relations Committee, of which she has been a member for the last seven years. She has sat on the Board of Directors of the HFMA Northern California Chapter, co-chaired the Northern California and Southern California Joint Fall Conference for three years, served as sponsorship chair for three years and the chapter’s Programs Committee.
