Vice President, Revenue Cycle
Patrick McDermott serves as the Vice President, Revenue Cycle for Sutter Health, a 27 hospital integrated delivery health system in Northern California. Patrick’s Shared Services team collected a record $6.35 billion dollars in 2018 to fund the not-for-profit mission of hospitals, reduced actual expenses by $2.4 million, and raised employee satisfaction scores 3 years in a row. Previously, Patrick led the revenue cycle for Presence Health (Chicago) for 8 years, a 12 hospital healthcare system in Illinois which resulted from the merger of Resurrection Healthcare and Provena Health. Patrick’s approach focuses the team on “end to end” process integration to eliminate the revenue leakage in the front, middle, and back-end functions. Patrick’s team balances the improvement of workflow, technology, training, metrics, and culture to create rapid and sustainable performance improvement. Patrick’s career started with consulting firms Stockamp & Associates (now Huron consulting) and KPMG which sparked his passion for improving hospital balance sheet and income statement performance. Patrick holds an M.B.A in Finance from University of Illinois where he tutored student athletes in statistics and taught “Organizational Behavior” to undergraduate business students. Patrick has deep experience in shared services, restructuring, EPIC go-lives, and LEAN initiatives. With enthusiasm to help managers and staff progress in their careers, Patrick invented a course called “Revenomics 101” which won the HFMA Yerger award for innovative training delivered to members. Patrick as board member assisted the Illinois and California HFMA chapters with their professional development programs and was nominated to the National HFMA Advisory Board. Lastly, Patrick was previously an advisor for the American Hospital Association (AHA), a Board of Examiner for the Ohio Partnership for Excellence, and is a regular presenter for HFMA, HBI, ACA, and Becker conferences.

Antonio Fonseca has been in the healthcare industry for almost 18 years. His revenue cycle experience includes Account Receivables Management, Customer Service Management and Revenue Integrity. Antonio Fonseca currently serves as the Director of Patient Financial Services at Stanford Health Care and he also sits on the Payer Relations Committee for the California Hospital Association. He has participated in process improvement projects, EMR implementations, and countless other projects to improve cash collections, reduce days in accounts receivable and increase employee satisfaction. He graduated from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA with a bachelor of science in Business Administration and is evaluating academic institutions to pursue his master’s in Public Health.

Lisa Stark currently serves as Director of Revenue Cycle for Enloe Medical Center in Chico, CA. Her leadership responsibilities include; centralized billing and collection services for three acute care facilities including IP Rehabilitation and IP Psychiatric services, 1206(d) physician clinics, air and ground ambulance services as well as registration, authorization and financial counselling functions for all of the organization’s services. Prior to her role with Enloe Medical Center, Lisa also served as Director of Revenue Cycle for Rideout Health and Oroville Medical Center. Mrs. Stark has 18 years of leadership experience in acute care hospital operations

Lisa has been involved in HealthCare her entire career. She started in Medical Records filing and worked in Billing, Admitting and Case Management as she pursued her Bachelors. Since that time, Lisa has worked with the Clinical side in Pediatric Oncology, the IT side as support, installations and Project Management, and independent contracting. She found her niche in the Revenue Cycle and has been in the role of the Director over Billing and/or Patient Access in one form or another for the past 14 years. John Muir Health recently transitioned to a more Virtual workforce and continues to move their staffing in that direction for many support departments.
